Unfortunately, some people still think metalheads are aggressive worshippers of Satan. It's time to enlighten them.
The Heaven variation symbolizes the calm state of mind you get from listening to heavy metal. It has a soft shadow and curves like clouds.
The Hell variation is the complete opposite. It is inspired by fonts typically used in death metal where gloomy spikes that looks like a mix between lightnings and thorny branches are often used to create the characteristic heavy metal look.

Both variations of the font was used in the campaign to symbolize the dualtiy of a metalhead: their gloomy appearance versus ther inner softness, and all elements of the campaign, whether it's the posters, the billboard or the album cover, visualizes this duality, too.
The t-shirts and tattoo-designs also work as a tool for metalheads to show their soft sides whenever they face sceptism. They simply have to use an instagram filter to show that the music makes them calmer, happier and more peaceful.
When you haven't made a font before, making a variable one can be quite a challenge. Especially when you have to learn a new program and finish the work before your free trial of that program expires. Somehow, we ended up with a decent result (only in caps, though). And here's a few photos and videos of the process that was equally stressful and exciting.
